Decent phone in mid-20 price range
Ordered on 9-Jan-2023, delivered on 13-Jan-2023. It was for 26k and got a 2k discount through the card.Good phone although initially had some issues with the phone slowing when I navigate the settings and the app info for different apps, but the latest updates have fixed that. 5G too initially had issues but then I reset the network settings so that got taken care of. I don’t play games and just use it for reading mails, messages, calls, watching videos and web browsing – general stuff. So far good, there are a lot of useful features that I am using, some of them I did not have on my previous one. However one thing missing was the ability to completely block applications from using WiFi/Mobile network, for this you have to go to data saver mode and then choose which apps you can allow to use your data, which is a roundabout way of doing it. It’s a very important feature in Android and taking this away was not a good thing. There was a lot of bloatware too when I started this phone for the first time and luckily Samsung allows you uninstall most of them but apps like chrome, link to windows and a couple of others still remain (that was a part of the deal between google and samsung so maybe it was supposed to be like that). There’s also one persistent notification from Samsung Services to create an account/sign in and it’ll probably only go once you do that and there is no way to turn off the notification for this specific app (this happens when you update to the latest version as of 11 Feb 2023, the day I wrote this review) I’m yet to find a way that allows me to turn it off. It’s a very minor issue but no one should be forced to create an account with Samsung if they don’t want to.Edit – I forgot to mention one minor thing that they should add, there is no recording button during the call, you have to press the three dots and then you would see the record functionality (see pictures attached). Makes it more convenient when your call screen has the recording button without extra steps being there.Check out some videos for tips on how to use Samsung M53 or very detailed reviews, that should tell you what you can expect from the phone. Attached is the notification issue.1/April/2023 – battery charging has gotten slower. Takes an extra hour or so.21/Dec/2023 – the phone has been working fine. I don’t see any issues any more, that samsung services notification got removed, idk how, don’t remember doing something extra from my side for that. I had mentioned about battery taking longer to charge, I don’t face any issues as such but I can’t be entirely sure as I’m a casual phone user, my daily screen time is 1-2 hours & max goes to 4-5 hours during weekends/holidays. Modes & routines is a really nice feature OneUI has, it reminds me how BlackBerry had those profiles. Camera is good enough that you can click normal photos & docs for scanning, but don’t expect too much in this department if you want to click photos for IG/Snap.It’s almost been a year, hope I can use it for another 2 🤞

    Less than average
This phone’s pricetag of 20,000+ Rs doesn’t justify how low speced or buggy the phone is. I used to have a Redmi 6 pro before this and that phone lasted about 2 years before any glitches started to appear or the phone began to become slow. Here’s my review of it after using it for 6 months.Pros-1. Good battery (lasts an entire day or more on light usage)2. Good screen (120Hz and sAMOLED is nice)But that’s about it for the prosCons-1. Fingerprint reader is absolutely garbage. Doesn’t pick up fingerprints sometimes and you have to manually open it. It sometimes thinks that I’m the wrong person trying to use the fingerprint.2. Data roaming and Data connection disappears randomly and won’t turn on unless you restart the phone.3. Mic permissions are horrendous. Any 3rd party application calls are just bad because for some reason the receiver of the call can never properly here me and always say- You’re volume is too low. This is not the case when I receive the calls.4. Phone likes to randomly hang here and there and just stops responding with System UI errors (this is the worst kind of error you can get which usually appear after a phone has been used for 4+ years…. But this is on its 6 month run)5. Camera…… Let’s not talk about this garbage. Images look so artificial don’t even get me started and the shape this camera gives my face makes me look like a gremlin. The 108 MP feature is just a gimmick and serves no real purpose to photos and doesn’t even back other resolution photos. I’ve seen other phones like OnePlus within the same range of price which can take 4k 30 or even better quality video…. Yeah this doesn’t get close enough quality to that.6.bluetooth is just buggy from the start! I connect to any device and it just starts lagging and stuttering…. ANY device.Verdict? This phone is not worth it for the price they are selling it for and there are much better options out there for more or less. I think I know now why this model is an online seller and isn’t found in a Samsung showroom or tech shops. I hope this helps you into NOT purchasing this phone and look for better options.Thanks.
