Great mandolin but be careful
I gave the product 5 stars because the product itself is wonderful. I purchased this mandolin to thinly slice potatoes for frying; kind of like potato chips. Works perfect. You can easily adjust the thickness for slicing just about anything.As other reviews have stated, be careful. The blade is VERY sharp which is why you buy gadgets like this. This comes with a “handle” to use while slicing. USE IT. I didn’t and sliced the heck out of my thumb but that is my fault. Just be careful.

Cuts great. Not really for meat or cheese.
This works really well on vegetables. The gizmo used to hold vegetables as you slide it across the blade has to be held a certain way or the blade will cut off bits of plastic. See photo.

Good quality
I tried it with some assorted vegetabes, including some rocotos (fleshy chiles, similar to a bell peper), and it did create some very nice waffer thin slices. The spiky handle that comes with the mandoline is impractical and hard to control. Using it bare handed provides the best results, but you have to stop before finishing the piece to avoid injuries.

People, you can spend a little less. On one of these Mandoline Slicers.. But This One Is The S…. eer Stuff! I did have one that coast less. It looked and felt like junk. This one is made to leave with your loved ones’ when you’re gone. Compact slick fast and easy.. Especially making French Fries… I did and I was Greatly Impressed. Just Dial What You Want. And this thing will do the rest..With a little help from you; Very little.

Plastic Cutting Guide Warning
While using the the plastic cutting guide, there was small black pieces of plastic in the food I was slicing. When I turned the guide over, I saw that the blade was actually cutting into the hand guide.When cleaning the mandolin with the brush, which was included with the set, the blade actually cut the bristles off.The mandolin is great, but the hand guide and brush, not so much. Just use the gloves included with the set, while cutting.

Great tool for casual use, but that blade is SHARP
It’s made of cheap plastic, and it has a non-replaceable blade. If you’re a serious cook or a professional, you’ll want something better (and you’ll pay for it). If you’re not into cooking that much it will be perfectly adequate for your needs, as it is for mine.If you’re slicing something long and skinny like a cucumber, you’ll have to hold it in your hand. Switch to the vegetable holder when it gets short enough to control that way (and your fingers get close to the blade). The vegetable holder is difficult to hold even and straight so that the vegetable will move across the blade instead of slipping out of position or getting stuck, but you’ll get the hang of it.Whatever you do, WEAR THE PROTECTIVE GLOVE! If you use the device without it, you’ll slice your fingers into the food. I got a serious cut the first time I used the device, which taught me that I had to be really careful. Then I got another serious cut the second time I used it, which taught me that being really careful wasn’t good enough. WEAR THE PROTECTIVE GLOVE!

I just purchased this product and it does work nice does the job it’s supposed to do but I’m just learning to get use to this device and wear the protective gloves that comes with it would recommend

Es fácil usarla pero siempre con medidas de seguridad, porque su cuchilla está muy afilada y al principio me llegué a cortar levemente. Sin embargo, es un aditamento que facilita y hace rápidos los cortes de frutas y verduras. Se lava fácilmente y hasta el momento ha sido muy resistente
