Great book for wide range of experience levels
For those who know nothing about HVAC, this book will be extremely helpful. For those who already have experience, this book will help as well towards the later sections, and possibly even as a refreseher in the earlier chapters. There is beneficial advice herein for all. The detailed troubleshooting I found very helpful, and if used properly could save you a fair amount of money. The case studies at the end (a pleasant surprise) and the practical bit should be read by novices and those with more experience as it would be incredibly helpful…as are the bonus facts! A great book for anyone wanting to take more interest in this space or simply wanting to learn more.

I have had issues with home HVAC in the past. I wish I had read this book then to be able to troubleshoot without having to call a technician to come check everything. That wouldâve saved me a lot of money. This book has so much information on all the different types of hvac units and also how to maintain these units through regular maintenance. Being able to do something about it will help you in the long run.Even though a professional might be needed for many things if you can maintain your own system it can cut down on costs that a professional incures.The book goes over the hvac system so you have an understanding about it. There are common issues that are covered. A good understanding of an hvac system helps you better maintain the system.Installation is complex and the book goes over everything that is needed to do it right. You don’t want to go into it blind.I like that each function of a hvac unit is covered so you feel confident in what you are doing. Plus troubleshooting each area.I really felt confident I could do this if I need to. The book has a great overall detailed way of installing and maintaining.

Terribly Written and Unhelpful
I cannot emphasize enough – do not purchase this book. It reads as though it was written by a third grader doing a school report on HVAC systems, or, more likely, that it was generated by an AI. It completely lacks any pictures and diagrams. Especially for someone who has not worked in HVAC, pictures are essential to understanding the tools, processes, and methods required to execute the work. I do not understand how others could have rated this product highly, other than that they simply did not read it

This book is ok value and has good technical information for beginners, as it says in the title (not a guide for installation).But it is NOT AS SHOWN (in colour in Read Sample) but printed in black and white on cheap, thin paper. This makes so much of this book UNREADABLE in places, especially every diagram which are so critical in this technical book, so really hard to understand the more technical aspects (see photo).Itâs so poor it feels like a FAKE copy rather than from the authorised printers – this is now one of several HVAC books bought here on Amazon that have been exactly the same (Iâve bought plumbing text books and they are fine, itâs just the HVAC books where there has been a problem).Overall, some value in this, but mostly as an expensive set of checklists with some useful (readable) content,But not worth it for the quality, so sending this back.
