Great way to talk about classroom behavior with your kids.
My kids love this book and we read it over and over again. It is great for kids who struggle to understand what appropriate classroom behavior is or how to respond to peers when their behavior isn’t so pleasant. Thank you!

Good for discussing personal space & acknowledging change in others
My kid was having trouble with personal space issues at school. Although his problem was less extreme than Harry’s, he enjoyed reading the book and it gave us a springboard for talking about respecting other people’s personal space. I liked it at the end that the other characters also have to acknowledge that Harry has changed. It is an important lesson for “typical” kids who may type-cast a classmate who may be at the other end of the curve in their social-emotional development.

Great book!
Great book for my 6 year old that needs reminders to maintain personal space. Super cute, but still great examples of why need to keep our hands to ourselves.

A useful tool
My son started Transitional Kindergarten this school year. He was ahead of his peers in academic knowledge, but struggles with relating appropriately with his peers. This book helped him grasp the concept of social space and helped me accept how normal it is for some children to struggle with this area of development. I like that Harry is given a concrete way to know where his space ends and others begins. We know the book well, but pull it off the shelf to periodically remind my son. I think the story is cute and funny. The illustrations are very textured, like you could pull the characters off the page. I think this would be useful for visual and tactile learners. The background art is minimal, allowing the reader to focus on the action and dialog between the characters.

Hands to Yourself
We have been having issues at homes with our kids not keeping their hands to themselves. You can only say “keep your hands to yourself” so many times before you start going crazy. So, I grabbed this book to help them process what I was trying to tell them. It worked beautifully. They loved the story. We reread it when they need a reminder. My kids are 7, 6, 4, and 2 (well, and 4 months, but clearly he doesn’t have a problem keeping his hands to himself) and they all enjoyed the book and were able to understand the message.

Great book to explaining social boundaries
I have a very social almost 3 year old who needs a lesson in the social boundaries. She remembers concepts from books very well, so I was glad to find this book. I paired it up with a book called Catty the cat green and red choices. I ask my daughter if Harry made a green or red choice. She immediately caught on, and hope she will be able to apply the lessons in real life. She goes to preschool in the fall.

great for K/1 start of the year manners!
Great book! kids read about a student named Harry. All day he makes bad choices in school that result in him being unsafe, irresponsable and disrespectful. Until the classright brainstorms a solution that helps him see the error in his ways. Through this he realize on his own he wants to change. It opens up a dialogue for what the right thing to do is and why. Students discover how making good choices makes you and people around you feel safe, respectful and responsable!
