Great funny box set
This is a great classic cartoon Mr Magoo and I was glad that Amazon was able to have this in stock for me to purchase as I like great classic cartoons such as Mr Magoo and this is a highly recommended box set that I recommend that anybody that’s into classic cartoons like this will enjoy for many days, weeks, months and so many years to come.

MAGOO CLASSICS
I purchased this mainly for The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo, which includes 26 episodes that originally ran in 1964 thru 1965, with some episodes appearing in reruns usually during Thanksgiving or Christmas. It was these Holiday showings when I as a young boy where I discovered some of the great classics in literature through these cartoons.In researching this set, I think the information was lacking and a bit confusing, especially if you owned some of the episodes on VHS tape. The box set includes the following:1) The Mr. Magoo Show (4 discs): 26/25 minute episodes (TV run time 30 minutes allowing for commercials). These episodes consist of 5 separate cartoon chapters running approximately 5 minutes each. Some featuring Mr. Magoo and some featuring other characters related to Magoo. This series originally ran in 1960 thru 1961 and then played in reruns after that. The box set that I purchased in 2018 with a date of 2011 on the packaging has the original voice of Charlie and is not edited.2) The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo (4 discs): 26/25 minute episodes (TV run time 30 minutes allowing for commercials) featuring 19 classic stories. Some of these stories span multiple episodes such as Treasure Island (2 episodes), The Three Musketeers (2 episodes), Robin Hood (4 episodes), Little Snow White (2 episodes) and Don Quixote De Le Mancha (2 episodes but out of sequence). These multiple episodes are what usually ran during the Holidays and the one I remember the most was Robin Hood. I think the confusion comes from if you owned any of the VHS tapes, it wasn’t clear how many episodes made up the complete set of episodes. I finally realized when I got the package that the entire set included just 26 episodes (basically one television season). It is important to know that A Christmas Carol is not included in this set, it was apparently a TV Special and not a part of The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo.3) Uncle Sam Magoo TV Special (1 Disc): 1/53 minute feature (TV run time 60 minutes allowing for commercials). This feature presentation originally aired on February 15, 1970.4) What’s New Mr. Magoo? (2 Discs): 16/24 minute episodes (TV run time 30 minutes allowing for commercials) originally airing in 1977 and showing in reruns after that.

My grandson thinks it’s a Great way to introduce kids to classic literature
I purchased this set because it included the Famous Adventures of Mr, Magoo, A series that digests many literature classics… My grandson and I started with William Tell. What is really impressive is that the background details are included. (Did you remember that this adventure happened in 1307… My grandson can tell you that, and more- if you asked).Mr Magoo’s Famous Adventures makes for an easy and fun way to introduce the Classics…. we’ve enjoyed all we’ve seen… His favorite to date is The Three Musketeers and he can tell you that originally there were Three, but d’Artagnan came later to make them Four.My grandson says ‘ It’s an example of what all Educational Kids shows should be like….Fun and exciting and not boring or FLUFF like so many kids shows today!’

Audio altered for the 1960s show
Watching the original and uncut cartoons is a look back at history with its good and not so good things. They should never be altered or tampered with. You disrespect the artists who were involved and try to wipe away things that should be talked about honestly.Starting on about the third disk of the 1960s cartoon show the voice for the Chinese servant is replaced. Charlie was the stereotypical appearing Chinese house servant character and talked with the heavy accent and badly pronounced words. He was also the straight man to Mr. Magoo’s antics and the smart man who tried to warn him or clean up after him. The new voice is a Joe average voice and not even sync’d to the mouth movements. This is neither uncut nor original; but is jarring and noticeable.Otherwise the audio is good, the transfer clean and the DVD menu is easy to use.

Shout Factory’s Mr. Magoo’s Television Collection is Excellent
Shout Factory did a great job putting all of the various Mr. Magoo TV shows together in one DVD set. This is a perfect companion to the other Shout Factory “Mr. Magoo Theatrical Collection” DVD set. They also corrected the voice of Charlie in the first 2 discs of the “Mr. Magoo Show” discs. Unfortunately, the other two discs still have the annoying re-dubbed voice. The delay in releasing this set was due to Shout Factory’s search for the original un-dubbed voice. I know others will still complain about the discs with the dubbed voice but I really appreciate Shout Factory’s attempt in trying to restore Charlie’s original voice on these cartoons. Other companies wouldn’t have cared less what the collectors wanted and we wouldn’t have gotten any of the original dubs at all. They probably would have eventually found the rest of them but who knows how many more years that would have been. I’m glad they put in the time to restore these and that they went ahead and released these classic cartoons.

Magoo stands the test of time, quality cartoon that fun for all you can’t go wrong with Magoo. While others start strong and finish weak, Magoo cartoon are excellent from from the first disk to the last.

This DVD set is a GEM. It is suited for all ages now and as Magoo was during the 1960’s and the 1970’s.This is the for TV Magoo. There are four parts, The Mr.Magoo Show (1960-1961), very funny, SLAP STICKsituations but not of the violent kind. Look out for the voice of Mel Blanc throughout (voice of Bugs Bunny).Jim Backus(Magoo) does his best acting here. Next you have, The Famous Adventures of Mr.Magoo (1964-1965).These are the TALES and STORIES(books) throughout history where Magoo plays the chief roles. No nearsightedgags here. But you will enjoy Magoo here just the same. I bought many of these TALES on VHS some 15 or 20years ago. The colour was great then and is great on DVD. If you are not heavy on reading, you will learn something.Paul Frees’ voice is throughout. He did a lot of acting in almost all the cartoons of the 60’s and with Rankin/Bass.Next you have, Uncle Sam Magoo(1970 TV Special). Again, HISTORY LESSON. This time about America. By thistime animation on U.S. TV is now unique to the 1970’s. You will not find detail here as animators have low budgetsto work with. But Magoo fans will still enjoy this work. Finally you have, What’s New Mr.Magoo? ( 1977). By this timeMagoo is made with children in mind as are most Cartoons from the 70’s. Father may not watch this with the kidsbecause Slap Stick is missing. But it is a good show for the kids. Hal Smith’s voice is everywhere but it is notcaricaturised. He did a lot of work on the Flintstones and was the town drunk on the Andy Griffith Show.
