âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ A Thrilling, Emotional Ride with Strong Female Leads
âOn Her Watchâ by Melinda Leigh was a standout choice for our book club. The mix of high-stakes action and deep emotional connections really captured my attention, making this one of the more gripping reads Iâve come across in a while. What I appreciated most about this book was how well Leigh portrayed strong, resilient women. The protagonistâs determination to protect her loved ones, despite overwhelming obstacles, was a driving force throughout the story. It was easy to root for her, and the tension kept me turning pages late into the night. The balance between romance, suspense, and personal sacrifice felt genuine and compelling. My book club also found the fast pace and suspenseful plot engaging, but for me, the emotional depth is what really made this book shine. Itâs not just about the twists and turnsâthereâs a strong underlying theme of loyalty and justice that made the story more meaningful. The relationships felt authentic, and I found myself reflecting on the choices the characters had to make long after the last page.If youâre looking for a thriller that combines action with heartfelt moments and strong character development, On Her Watch is definitely worth the read. Itâs a perfect pick for anyone who enjoys a mix of suspense and personal stakes, and Iâm already looking forward to more from Melinda Leigh.

Bree and Matt
This series keeps getting better. I spent the majority of the book convinced I knew who the serial killer was, but also thinking that it was too easy, well I was right. There were some bigs twists I never saw coming. I can honestly say Ms. Leigh did a wonderful job with the misdirection.Bree and Matt were once again on the trail of a serial killer. This time there were very few clues and even less leads. As the bodies started piling up they had more questions than answers. With a state wide flu wiping out every branch of the police force, they were short handed and working around the clock. I love the way they work so well together and their interactions with the community and their family make them more human. Bree really cares about the community and struggles with asking her family for help, but this is the first book where she finally admits to herself that itâs okay to have a community help her raise her sisterâs kids. After 7 books, Matt has finally moved in with Bree. Iâve loved how their professional and personal relationship has progressed. They both seemed to show their affection more in this book, even in the field.Overall this was a great thriller. I loved the investigation aspect as well as the small amount of romance thrown in. I love the secondary characters of Greyâs Hollow and the way they add to the story. I canât wait for the next installment in this series!

Another fantastic addition to the series
On Her Watch was another fantastic addition to the Bree Taggert series featuring Bree’s search for a serial killer. After two hikers find a tarp-wrapped body in the woods, Sheriff Bree Taggert searches the surrounding area and finds two more bodies. Convinced they’ve found a serial killer’s dumping ground, Bree quickly begins her investigation. Working with investigator Matt Flynn, Bree goes to interview one of the victim’s best friends only to find the woman’s apartment ransacked and set on fire. With another woman missing, the search for the killer has escalated and Bree needs to find the killer quickly before another woman dies.On Her Watch opens with a young girl running away from home before the book jumps forward in time to Bree getting the call about the hikers finding a body in the woods. When Bree arrives to the scene, it doesn’t take long to discover two additional bodies nearby. Serial killer cases tend to make really interesting mysteries so I was looking forward to seeing this plot play out. Also, I was curious how that opening chapter would end up being connected to the plot. Soon after Bree begins her investigation, another woman goes missing which definitely makes things more urgent as the hope is to find her alive. The case goes in several directions and I was somewhat surprised by the reveal of the killer’s identity. The final confrontation with the killer was very well done with the perfect mix of action and suspense.Bree is a great main character and she’s come a long way since the first book in the series. She’s much more open now and willing to let others in. Her relationship with Matt continues to be amazing. The two moved in together in the previous book and I really enjoyed the little moments we got to see of them together at home with the kids. Bree’s family is threatened as a result of her investigation and I have to say that’s one thing I didn’t love about this book as I feel like they’ve been targeted so many times throughout the series. Thankfully everything works out for the better and everyone is alright.Overall On Her Watch was a great read and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Track Her Down, when it releases next year.

Another great book in the series
Love all of Melinda Leighâs books. Love this series characters. It been fun to see the family grow up. Bree is far less dependent on Dana in this one to take care of family and more on Mattâs family.Serial killer is taking in young blonde women.

Nice story
it follows the previous editions closely (still amazed at the number of serial killers in this one county), well written and plotted, the characters are engaged and engaging. Still too many dead women for my taste, but that would be another genre. Still enjoying this series, will wait for the next edition.
