Canât put the book down
I just finished Roar by Dr. Stacy Sims, and it is incredible! This book is an absolute must-read for any woman looking to understand her body and optimize health, fitness, and performanceâespecially through different life stages, including menopause. Dr. Sims sheds light on how womenâs bodies function differently from menâs and provides clear, practical strategies to stay fit and strong, no matter where you are in your journey. One of the most eye-opening sections is her advice on staying fit through menopause. Dr. Sims explains the hormonal changes that happen and how they impact muscle mass, fat distribution, and energy levels. She emphasizes the importance of: ⢠Lifting Heavy Weights: Maintaining and building muscle is crucial, especially during menopause when muscle mass tends to decline. ⢠Prioritizing Protein: Protein becomes even more important as we age to support muscle recovery and repair. ⢠Interval Training: Incorporating high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to help boost metabolism and improve cardiovascular health. ⢠Sleep and Recovery: She dives into how changing hormones can affect sleep and why prioritizing recovery is just as important as the workouts themselves. ⢠Mindful Nutrition: Adjusting your diet to focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods that support hormone health and reduce inflammation is key.Her mantra, âwomen are not small menâ, is both empowering and scientifically backed, making you feel truly in control of your fitness journey.Whether youâre in your 20s or navigating menopause, Roar equips you with the tools to optimize your workouts, balance your hormones, and feel stronger than ever. Itâs a game-changer, and I highly recommend it to any woman wanting to stay active and healthy through every stage of life!

Great Book – Every Active Woman Needs to Read This!
Fantastic book! The author, Stacy Sims, really knows her stuff and I purchased both this book and Next Level in hard copies because they’re worth reading multiple times (I pick up on different stuff every time I read them!). They’re full of a wealth of information for women who are active and don’t want to feel like their best years are behind them and they continue to be a motivation for me – especially during the cold winter months when being as active is more of a challenge.

GET THE BOOK
This is the info Iâve been searching for my entire life. I was so impressed I purchased this book for every female relative plus a few friends!!! Listen to Dr Sims on YouTube first if you want to know more before you buy. Best explanation of the female athletic experience (or âtraining for lifeâ as Dr Sims says!) and what we can do to drastically improve our health and performance. Knowledge is power!! Iâm so grateful we FINALLY have some female scientists out there doing the work, collecting data, testing, and sharing valuable life changing knowledge with the rest of us. THANK YOU Dr Stacy!!!

Excellent Info for Women
This book has been such a useful resource for me for all aspects of my health. The information is well-written and is helpful for understanding menopause and how to make this phase of my life go more smoothly. Tips on supplements, sleep, fueling, hormones, adaptogens, strength, and more are found in the book. One frustration that I have is that medical professionals are so unaware of this info so getting good medical help for menopause is challenging.

Relevant for active women
Overall a very relevant book for modern, active women. As a person who likes to drill down into the underlying data/info, I appreciated the extensive bibliography and deep dives into some of the research findings. I wish that the action items had been summarized or collected together at some point. (There is much foreshadowing to action info appearing later in the book, but it is so dispersed it can be challenging to synthesize.) I read the original ROAR as well as Next Level, and this updated version includes enough of the Next Level info that most women will be well-served with the new edition. (Next Level contains some additional info specific to the peri-to-post menopause years, but there is a ton of overlap between the two.)

Filled the gaps from nutrition and personal training school
I am a nutrition coach and personal trainer. This book filled so many gaps! It has helped me better understand womenâs fitness and nutrition. You donât need a fitness background to understand what is being explained in the book as she lays things out in ways for everyone to understand. I look forward to future books.

FINALLY!!!
I’m a 46 year old female athlete weightlifter. I’m part of a niche group of females in their perimenopausal years that is frustrated by the lack of guidance on nutrition and exercise for my specific situation. I only had to read the foreword and I was hooked! Chapter 1 was even better! I had bought the paperback, but I went ahead and bought the audible too so I could listen to it whenever. Highly recommend for this overlooked minority group!!!

Great book, very informative, easy to read and understand. It was very helpful to learn all the specific things about the female physiology and it is very useful even if youâre not a high performance athlete.

Amazing information.. and myth breaker

The woman writing this book deserves every praise she can get. Finally someone not just taking medicinal and fitness advice and pink wrapping it for woman but actually considering our hormones not as an obstacle but a path to reach true female strengt. Love all her nutritional advice and listen to every podcast this lady is doing. After having autoimmune issues and was bedridden I now bodybuild and slowly start to get my fertility back. Love you Stacy thanks for being my sHero xxx
