    Looking for an extra watch
I was looking for a basic watch. Something that reminded me of my Grandfathers watch. I remember he had back in the 70s a stainless steel Timex with date on it. It had, for a child, a huge display. I recall he got me a child’s version but a child is hard on everything and it didn’t last. Anyway, I loved how this reminded me of his. I do wish the date window was a bit larger for these older eyes. I really like the indiglo feature for night use. It is easy to use and easy to set the time. Price is nice too.

    My New Forever Watch
I’m far-sighted and I need to remove my glasses to see up close. With a typical digital watch checking the time was a two handed maneuver. This watch is EZ to read on the fly, with a big face and bold numbers. And lemme tell you about the backlight! Bright as heck, you could use it to flag down a jumbo jet (almost). I appreciate that it’s thin, and most of the face is used for the watch, not for some slidey compass gizmo that makes you look like Chuck Yeager or Indiana Jones. Loud ticking? BFD. It’s a watch. If it keeps you up at night you have bigger problems than a loud watch. On the nightstand it’s gonna be loud, so put it on top of something soft, you’ll be surprised at the difference. Thank me later. The thing about analog: I’m not a runner or an aviator, so I don’t need precision chronometrics. If I really need an alarm, I use my phone. I bet my phone has a stopwatch if I really need one. When I check the time, I don’t need to know that it’s 7:56:48, I just need to know that it’s almost eight. Loosey goosey.Analog vs. digital: My kids have trouble reading an analog clock, and they’re almost teenagers. If I walk into the TV room and say, “It’s time for bed, it’s ten o’clock,” they’ll say, no, it’s nine-fifty-eight!” The main thing is, Analog shows the time in a relative way, Digital in an absolute way. The idea of “a quarter past one” doesn’t exist in digital time; it’s 1:15. The hour is shown in an elapsing, progressing, way, quarters, thirds, halves, VISUALLY, like a sundial. You don’t need to know if it’s precisely noon, just that it’s lunchtime. Digital reduces time to a technical statistic, like cholesterol. Your brain has to interpret it into Time-time: “It’s 11:26, um, let’s see, thirty four minutes to lunch,” too much mental energy. A glance at an analog watch and you know it’s time to start those gastric juices a bubbling. A digital watch is useful only on New Year’s Eve and at the birth of a baby.I wear a watch 24/7, sleeping, making whoopie, showering, changing the oil in my car. I like to be able to check the time in the middle of the night. “Thank God, it’s only 3:30. Back to sleep.” My main worry is about getting a tan line in the summer. But my life is relatively worry-free. I hope yours will be, and this watch will help.Update: This watch works with the Men’s Rubbertech (TM) Silicone Rubber Watchband Stainless Steel Deployment Buckle Black 18mm available on Amazon. Outstanding product.Update June 2019–After wearing this watch nearly 24/7 for 8and a half years, including bedtime, shower time, executive time, construction work, swimming, everything except when I got an MRI, it finally showed some age. First the light dimmed out, then it started slowing down. I reckoned that a replacement battery would nearly match a new watch, if I were to go to a jeweler. BUT NO, and new battery was 4.65, and i prized off the back with a Swiss Army knife can opener blade and replaced it. Good to go. Now all I need is to polish the bezel, due to the construction work effects.

    Solid, affordable watch
I bought this watch after comparing several in the <$30 range. I was leaning toward the Timex Weekender for a while but eventually decided to go with this one because of the leather strap (I know you can get NATO leather straps that are compatible with the Weekender, but most of the reviews for those complained about the poor quality of the leather) and because it has the day of the week and month. The watch is very readable. The numbers are in a large sans-serif font. The indiglo feature works extremely well, but on my watch, the top ~2 square millimeters of the face remain unlit. Of course this doesn't affect visibility at all, it just doesn't look quite as nice. This may just be a problem with my watch. The minute hand may be just a tad thick to be very precise, but it's mostly fine. The strap seems to be of good quality leather. It's relatively thick, with a nice stitching down the sides. This was my first time wearing a watch, so I took a while to figure out which level was most comfortable. Initially I had to keep it so loose that the watch wouldn't stay on the top of my wrist, but now I can wear it one notch tighter with relative comfort. The strap feels a little stiff, but that could just be my unaccustomedness to wearing any watch.Aside from that, the watch is somewhat loud. You won't notice it most of the time, but you might if you're sitting alone in a quiet room. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily. It's kind of a cool sound. You might like it.Initially set up of the date takes a few minutes, but it's not too bad. You will have to change the day of the month at the end of any months with fewer than 31 days. This isn't really a pain either, but if you care greatly about your second hand exactly matching that of another clock you'll have to reset that, too.All and all a pretty good buy, I think. The watch was pretty much as described. I don't find myself wearing it as often as I thought I would though.

This is a great watch, very easy to read. Big clear typeface, the numbers are legible even with a quick glance. So nice to have the bonus of a 24 hour clock too. The indigo feature helps in the dark of night and seems to forever. I really like the date feature too. I confess it took me a while to set this part up but once it’s done it’s really handy. The black watch band strap is 18 mm and soft comfy leather. If I needed more than one watch I would buy this same one again. This is my third timed indiglo watch and I think it’s my favourite.

At Wabakimi Outfitters I often HAVE to be up early and know the time in the dark. THs watch is affordable, easy to read night or day, good “light-up” in the dark, and eve attractive. Good buy.
