Good Watch
I love my Expedition! Its band is comfortable and looks great. The watch itself keeps great time. And the glow when you press the buttons at night is awesome. The hands glow also. I would buy this again. Timex has never let me down in 55+ years. I trust Timex for accuracy and longevity.

Overall Excellent Watch
I bought this watch to replace my Casio forester watch whose strap pin holes enlarged to the point that the strap would not stay on reliably. I decided to go with a metal case instead of plastic so this would not happen again. The Casio also had a tiny battery that did not last long. This watch has the look and feel of quality. The stainless case has a finely brushed finish that is classic. The dial as others have said is a medium gray rather than the dark gray that is depicted in the pictures but I think this this goes better with the stainless case anyway. There is still sufficient contrast between it and the hands to make it very readable. The date is also very easy to read. Unlike some other reviewers, I really like the combination brown leather and black nylon webbing band. I find it very comfortable and think it looks great too. If it does not last it can be easily replaced. Other reviewers have said that the ticking is very loud. I would have to disagree. In a quiet environment the watch has to be within 15″ of my ear and facing my ear before I hear it. It is not noticeable at all. I also find that the time and date are easier to set than my old Casio forester; I do not have trouble finding the spot where the date can be adjusted. The indiglo is also a very nice feature that illuminates the dial very evenly. All in all I am very impressed with the watch so far. It looks and feels like a more expensive watch. I bought it as my work watch (I’m in construction) but it’s almost too nice for that. I will update if there are any reliability issues that come up.Update: After 2-1/2 years of daily abuse the knob for setting the time came off while gardening. That’s a pretty long time for such an inexpensive watch to last for me. I’ll be buying another similar Timex Expedition watch.

A Simple Classic
I collect watches, primarily analog types, and prefer the classic and military styles. The current trend toward mounting a clock on your arm and calling it a watch seems silly to me and I don’t think the fad will last. After all, a fad last a season, a classic last forever!Even though I have a lot of watches I don’t wear most of them. When I needed an everyday work watch I went looking to an old standby, Timex. I found this particular model (T40091) appealing because it mixes a simple classic style with some modern conveniences such as a very reliable quartz movement and the ingeneous indiglo light feature. The watch is the perfect size for a full grown man and is made of brushed stainless steel, like a serious watch should be. Upon very close inspection I could find no flaws in the case, the machining was simply perfect. The glass fit perfectly and is flush with the bezel. I wish it had been slightly recessed but its okay. I like how they put a slight raise in the case around the crown to act as a protective guard. The face of the watch is very simple and easy to read. I even like the slightly odd face color. It’s somewhere between a dark olive drab and gray and in certain light it can appear black. It gives the watch an older look, as if its been around for twenty or thirty years. The hands are pretty standard and the luminous hands work but just barely. In a watch of this price range its fine and besides you have the indiglo feature so its really not needed. About the only thing I wish this watch had is a cyclops over the date. My eyes aren’t what the used to be and seeing that little date is getting harder every year. This watch also has the hack feature so setting the time accurately is easy. I have a habit of checking it almost daily (a little OCD).Things I wish Timex would change…add the cyclops over the date, remove the extra face writing to make it even simpler, make the secondary numerals just a tad larger, change the band. The band is not bad but seems to come a little small. I have medium sized wrists for a man and it fits me on the second to last hole. I seems like they should have made it about a 1/2″ longer. I plan to replace the stock band with a NATO band so this isn’t a big deal.Overall, I think you can’t go wrong with a Timex

Great Watch but dial smaller than expected. Same size as a Timex Easy Reader.
This review mainly serves as a reminder for people who may not look close enough before they place the order. This watch is a good watch and I receive a well-made product. Very comfortbale on wrist. Looks great. Very good value for its price.I am kind of a Timex fan, owning a few Timex watches for quite some years. One was bought in 2001 and just started not working last year. This Expedition’s quality is just like all other Timex watches I own: care free, well-built for its price, and long lasting, which I believe this one will also be.The reason I am buying this Expedition is I need a field watch that is big enough. The spec of this Expedition is listed as 40mm case diameter and I thought that should be big enough. Turns out the dial looks quite small when you have it on your wrist. The photo is a comparison between Timex Easy Reader (35mm case diameter) and this Expedition (40mm case diameter). You can see their dial diameter are pretty much the same. After measuring it is around 30mm-31mm. The Arabic numerals on the Expedition actually are smaller than the Easy Reader. Well I guess that’s why they name it the Easy Reader. All in all, this Expedition looks and reads time smaller than your typical 40mm watch. Mostly it is becasue the bezel/frame takes out quite some real estate of the 40mm diameter which I didn’t pay attention to when I ordered.

Timex Expedition – Great Value!
I was about to buy a watch band for my new Seiko. This timex expedition was on sale for less than the cost of a watch band. It looks good, it was very inexpensive, and it keeps perfect time. $24 shipped to my house. You can’t beat that! If you’re looking for an economical watch with good quality, this is it.
