Timothée Chalamet Sat Courtside in Adam Sandler’s Favorite $180 Boots

Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler have been buds for over a decade now.

Back in 2014, when Chalamet was still looking for his big break in Hollywood, he scored his first-ever film role in Jason Reitman’s Men, Women & Children, a comedy-drama that also starred—you guessed it!—Adam Sandler. While a lot has changed for Chalamet since then (say, 24 movies and two Oscar nominations), the pair remain friendly to this day.

They’ve been spotted shooting hoops together in New York. Sandler introduced Chalamet’s musical performance on Saturday Night Live. And before wrapping up his goofy bit at the Oscars, Sandler made a point to run over to Chalamet in the front row for a quick hug. Point is, spend enough time around another person, and sometimes your wardrobes start to blend into one another. And at a Lakers game last week, the A Complete Unknown star stole a signature move straight out of the Sandman’s playbook.

Seated courtside, Chalamet was spotted cheering and downing a pint with his swishy track pants tucked into a pair of the Classic Short Boots from Ugg. First introduced in 1995, the silhouette was originally designed for surfers who needed their feet to stay cozy during early morning sessions. Five years later, Oprah Winfrey added it to her annual “Favorite Things” list, and it became an instant hit among very famous people like Beyoncé, Kate Moss, and Adam Sandler himself.

Sandler’s influence goes far and wide. In a 2023 episode on Complex’s Sneaker Shopping, Pete Davidson even named him as his personal Ugg influencer. “I’m a big Sandler fan,” he says on the show. “I think [he] is like 10 years ahead of everyone on fashion, always. And he wore Uggs a lot in the early 2000s. It’s very powerful. You go grocery shopping, or you go to the movies, or you go out of your house in Uggs? Like, that’s cool, man. I fuck with you.”

Timothée Chalamet’s on the Ugg train now, too. So the next time you see him, don’t be shocked if he’s also wearing a gigantic Hawaiian shirt and baggy basketball shorts.
